Alberta Provincial Stroke Strategy (APSS)
The Alberta Provincial Stroke Strategy (APSS) is a two year $20M project funded by the Alberta Provincial Government to improve stroke prevention and care in the province. It is a collaborative partnership between the Alberta Health and Wellness, all nine health regions and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT and Nunavut.

 

Heart&Stroke - Living with Stroke
Living with Stroke is an interactive program developed for people who have had a stroke and the individuals who care for them. The sessions include discussions, videos and activities to help you learn more about dealing with stroke. Workshops are held once a week for 8 weeks, and each session is 2 hours in length. Living with Stroke allows you to share your experiences, ask questions, and hear other people’s stories.   The sessions focus on improving your quality of life and reducing your risk of having another stroke, and they give you the opportunity to participate in your own recovery.

CPR Anytime™ Family & Friends
The Heart and Stroke Foundation’s CPR Anytime™ Family & Friends™is a portable CPR class in a box.  The kit teaches how to give CPR to a child or adult. It is a fast, easy, and affordable way to learn CPR.
Kits are available for purchase from our Resource Centres located under
menu item "Resuscitation Resources."

 

Heart-Safe: Public Access to Defibrillation
A province wide initiative to track and monitor Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) by providing a free online registration and notification system.  The registration of these devices will be linked to the AHS EMS Dispatch Communications (911 Centre) in order to enhance the deployment of an AED.
